2005 Bushwhack Thank You from Rich Busa

To all who put in so much effort in making this race happen my heartfelt thanks! I don’t want to start singling out individuals because I know I’ll forget someone but I do want to thank Barry. A bloodhound gets a scent and takes off; Barry gets an idea and is off and running. He’s the best when it comes to organizing.

I honestly didn’t think the race was going to happen after that storm but when I spoke to Barry he said it was still a “go.” I was keeping my fingers crossed that someone would show up and lo and behold we had over thirty runners. No one got lost, how could they when Winona and Paul put ribbons every 20 feet? And no one got hurt despite some tricky footing, especially going up Billygoat Hill.

The post race food and festivities were just great, my thanks to all who donated food and gifts. And finally, another thank you to Barry for getting permission to use the Brophy School facilities. I’m not used to that, most of the snowshoe races post race facilities are outside and at best, we are treated to a fire in a 55-gallon drum.

I think we’ll get a lot of PR via word of mouth, which will bring us more runners next year.
