BIGGSteps 5K Toward Cancer Prevention

November 17, 2019, Needham, MA, from St. Sebastian’s Sch., 10 a.m. start; gently, but constantly rolling course (no brobdingnagian hills) with 8 identifiable upgrades, with steep and short downhills. The course measured 3.14 miles on at least one watch (so, paces here are calculated on that 3.14 distance); Timing delayed because in 30-32-degree temps the finish line computer froze and times had to a day later be approximated by finish line photos. Results and finish line photos by RaceWire.com. Great food options at after finish indoors. But no medals handed out because of no official results available at the time.

Abby McCabe placed FIRST in her age group because she GUNNED IT down to the finish and won by 7 seconds! Erin McArdle, with no gloves on, missed taking 3rd in hers by only 28 seconds, and maybe a GFRC long-sleeved shirt would’ve made her faster?. Mike Bower’s GPS had the distance at 3.14 miles, a little long. But did Mike run ALL the tangents? Will look closely at the photos to see who was wearing the right amount of clothing – not too much – on this 30-33-degree day.
