We had 12 RETURNEES from 2018 (we didn’t hold this last year),
11 from ’17, 9 from ’16, 13 from ’15, 9 from ’14, and 6 from 31 in ’13

More notes on who did what here: Let it be recorded that Jay Powell had to go 9.4 mph be fastest among us! Darlene Dearden and Abby McCabe did 8.05 & 8.32 mph…John Joyce is almost over his calf pull (“felt it only a little”), Abby McCabe, Darlene Dearden, Bob Mayer, John Joyce and Glenn Meister were the only ones of us who didn’t wear jackets in this. Abby we learned loves the cold. She’s hiked all the 48 4000-footers in NE, some in the winter! Glenn also hiked recently in cold wind, snow & ice. Abby, Andrea Leonard and Phyllis Lowry had done 2-3 Bowditch track workouts in February! Joe Koziol & Yours Truly did also, though it didn’t help their speed this day. This race made it Joe K’s fourth in a row – the PK 5 Miler, the OFTM (10 mi) and the Hyannis Half, all right before this. (We think he backed off his pace for this one!) Almost all of us wore jackets because of the wind & the temps. Jeff Hattem had done 13 miles right before this. Steve and Deb ran 14 miles beforehand; Deb’s foot is feeling better – going in the right direction! Steve served us some of his outstanding home brew at the Lowrys’, Andrea & Phyllis “saved themselves” for a 3 1/2-hour trail run the next day (mid-11’s pace); Esther Powell pushed Andrew in his 4-wheeler the whole way. Carol Leiter tried to squeeze the run into an overly busy day, but got there in time to do only one lap. If we’d known she’d been there, we’d have said, “Just do the 2nd lap & we’ll get your time!” Looking at all those photos (by Julie C) of the pub the Lowrys have put together over the years, with the hundreds of race bibs nailed to the rafters, and race ribbons hanging all over, and trophies (most very hard to win) on the shelves, is there any better runners’ pub anywhere?!
